The Man of Lawlessness and the Day of the Lord

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12

2
Chapter 2
1 But we ask you, brothers, concerning the Parousia of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, 2 to the end that you not be quickly shaken from the mind nor be alarmed, neither through spirit nor through word nor through letter as through us, as that the day of the Lord has come. 3 Let no one deceive you in any way, for that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 the one opposing and exalting himself over everything called god or object of worship, so that he sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you, I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know the thing that is restraining, for him to be revealed in his appointed time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only the one holding it down now until it comes out of the midst. 8 and then the Lawless One will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will do away with by the Spirit of the mouth of his and will render powerless by the appearing of the Parousia of his, 9 The presence is not according to the working of Satan in all power and signs and wonders of falsehood. 10 and with all deception of unrighteousness for those who are perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth so that they might be saved; 11 And for this reason God sends to them a working of error to the end that they believe the lie. 12 so that all might be judged, those who did not believe the truth but delighted in unrighteousness.
